Muscle Car

Hi there...

It has been a long time since the last time I'd post my entry... Anywhere here I am... Still breathing and still standing...So lets talk about category of cars that known as muscle car.

What is a muscle car??.. The muscle car is a term used to refer to a variety of high performance automobiles. The term principally refers to American, Australian and to a lesser extent of the South African models. Normally the muscle car describes as 2-door rear wheel drive mid-size car with a large and very powerful V8 engine, and at an affordable price. Most believe that classic muscle cars were produced in the late 1960s and early 1970s and were built for street use and racing. They are distinct from sports cars and also from GTs, which are two-seat or 2+2 cars intended for high-speed touring/road racing. These are not generally considered muscle cars owing to their small size, relatively high cost and specialty nature.

For a definition from the muscle car era, Peter Henshaw's 2004 book Muscle Cars refers the reader to an extract from Road Test magazine’s June 1967 issue: "Just what is a Muscle Car? Exactly what the name implies. It is a product of the American car industry adhering to the hot rodder's philosophy of taking a small car and putting a big engine in it. The Muscle Car is Charles Atlas kicking sand in the face of the 98 hp (73 kW) weakling." Henshaw adds that the muscle car was designed for straight-line speed, and did not have the "sophisticated chassis", "engineering integrity" or "lithe appearance" of European high-performance cars.

Opinions vary as to whether high-performance full-size cars, compacts, and pony cars qualify as muscle cars. Classic muscle cars are also defined by age and country of origin. The term "muscle car" did not enter common usage until after production of the vehicles had essentially ended and American print media of the era commonly referred to them as "supercars"....

Allthough this high performance car are very fast on the straight line, but when it comes to cornering and heavy breaking, this kind of car are not suitable...but if u can 'tamed' the car, it's a fun exciting ride...Personally, I am also a muscle enthusiast...the muscle car have the best acceleration, descent top speed but worse handling...

The End Is Near...

Hi readers,

As we are approaching the final exam for this semester, there seems to be a lot of tests, quizes, assignment and presentation needed to be done...

It's a brainbuster time for all the students esspecially when the final exam is just around the corner... Allways busy studying for all the test and quizes and lots of assignment needed to be done and submitted on time plus need to prepared for the paperwork presentation and all of these situations happen at the same time...and that my friends feels like a large stone falls onto the head and crush your skull to pieces... The pieces are then being put back together and drop another large stone just to be broken again...

SUPERCHARGER...WHAT IS IT??..

Hi Guys...
For most of car enthusiast, surely they heard of turbocharger and superchager all the time. Turbocharger are more famous among car tuner compared to supercharger.

The most easier way to get more power from an engine is boost and there’s no other way around because boost is the most efficient and cost effective way to get more power out of any given engine but they do come with a price or side effects if it’s not being done properly. Without a proper parts and engine management, the newly boosted engine could be reduced to scrap steel within a week.

Talking about boost, there are only two options... The TURBOCHARGER or SUPERCHARGER. Turbocharge normally allows for higher power gains because it runs on the engine’s own exhaust gases while the supercharge runs on the pulley and a belt which has a parasitic effect on the engine’s power output.

But the turbocharger also has its own disadvantage as well. The turbo lag is one of the weeknes. The turbo setup is also unpredictable compared to the supercharger setups. By using the supercharger, the power delivery is much more smoother and more linear unlike the turbocharger where nothing happen until you hit 3000 rpm. The supercharger are also somewhat reliable because they are less prone to boost spikes.

The problem with the superchargers is that they can be difficult to install. It can be bulky esspecially for Roots and Twin-Screw type superchargers and required a bit of engineering and customization to install the pulley which needs to run the supercharger. Modern day cars normally have very cramped engine bays for space savings and wires and fuses for all the new fangled technological gizmos which makes it quite hard to fit a supercharger.

Roots and Twin-Screw type superchargers are also aren’t very efficient when high boost level are concerned. This is because the Twin-Screw rotors design is susceptible to blowback from the engine when boost levels are too high. This is not so with centrifugal superchargers.

The centrifugal supercharger is a lot like turbocharger which runs on engine driven belt and pulley which means this types of supercharger is more compact compared to Roots or Twin-Screw type supercharger and able to deliver more boost than a Roots or Twin-Screw type supercharger if needed.

A complete supercharger kit comes with extra injector, F-Con SZ piggyback ECU, all associated brackets, pulleys and belts for the supercharger, intercooler and an oil cooler. The installation might sounds easy but doesn’t mean it is quick.

After all the kit was finally installed, the base map was loaded on the ECU and everything wiil be checked to make sure everything was running properly before the car is tested on the dyno.

For example taking the Nissan 350Z or also known as a FairladyZ as the test subject. A stock 350Z produces power at 200.67bhp while 24.78kg/m for torque. After installing a HKS Dual Muffler Exhaust, the power of the car increases to 206.34bhp while the torque still remains the same. When the supercharger kit were installed, it pushed out 0.5bar of boost to the VQ35DE which churns out 270.68bhp and producing 34.05kg/m of torque. The F-Con SZ were than retuned to give a leaner fuel mixture. After a few adjusting and few more runs on the dyno, the 350Z produced power about 314.24bhp with 37.87kg/m.

The end result is a wholesome 108bhp and 12kg/m of torque increase from the HKS GT supercharger kit.. That’s really fast... Can’t wait to grab that kit...

UPGRADING SAGA BLM...FUN RIDE...

Hi...
How are you guys doing??..
Today we would like to talk about of how to made your newly purchased Proton Saga BLM into something that are much more fun and enjoyable to drive..

Since it’s still a fairly new model, not much parts would be available for it just yet...But that’s only for a few month because in a few month, that situation will change..

When doing up a car, better starts from ground up. So getting a new sets of suspension will help to improve handling. Try to get a pair of stiffer shock absorbers to match the lowering springs or a full coilover setup if affordable and don’t forget to grap yourself a bigger sets of wheels and tyres to give more grip and response. 15 inch wheels should get the job done..

Since the Saga uses the campro engine, try to search at any local car performance shop if they should have an exhaust system for the Saga. Bear in mind that basic bolt-ons such as intake and exhaust will not yield that much power, so be conservative in your expectations.

The Lost Atlantic

Long ago, there was a mystical kingdom called Atlantis located to the west of the beautiful city of Eden. Generations of Angels lived and worked there in peace. However, this peace was soon overwhelmed by the ferocity of war. After the war, Atlantis was torn from the land and sunk beneath the waves. Even after this tragedy the people of Eden sought peace. Recently, scientists from the Iron Castle Exploration Association have found the exact location of Atlantis. The first cooperation among four factions in history was created. They have created a great exploration ship, Habosen, and planned to go to Atlantis. While Angels all over Eden cheered their bravery and hoped for the best, evil shadows gathered under the water.

Top Gear - Proton Satria Neo

Hi there...

Today we all would like to talk about Satria Neo, one of the car model produced by Proton. It is a 3 door hatchback with FF layout. There are two types of engine that powered the car. There are 1.3L straight-4 twin-cam Cam-Pro engine which produces 94bhp and another using 1.6L straight-4 twin-cam Cam-Pro engine which produces 110bhp.

The car was said as 'Budget kudos of Matalan, but not actually as bad as you'd expect. Rough engine note aside, it rides OK and the motor's reasonably peppy. Dodgy interior styling, though'. for the performance, the car received a rating around 3 stars out of 5. The car was said that you can feel the power when you are driving the 1.6L version but it isn't as quick as some and needs to be worked hard.

For driving and handling, the car received 4 stars because it handles well with a decent amount of grip at the front and well contained body lean with sharp steering. That i personally agreed because all proton cars starting with the Gen-2 handles so well. I still can drive around corner with high speed but i don't feel anything but just grip, grip and grip...

The lack of space causes this car to only received the rating of 1 stars in the spacious rating because the head and legroom are in short supply in the back and the boot isn't very big while 2 stars rating for the build quality with slight improvement over previous Protons but it still feels and looks too budget.

3 stars for the equipment with the entry SX includes a CD player, air con and electric windows while the GSX adds 16in alloys and climate control while safety for only 1 star because it just had 2 airbag and no traction control but it does has the ABS brake.

For owning it received 3 stars rating for the good fuel economy and low road tax while 1 star only for the value because it wasn't cheap enough for a budget brand.

Overall rating this car received 3/5 stars. Allthough the proton have come out with huge improvement, but it is still too expensives. The main rival for Proton Satria Neo are Fiat Punto, Vauxhall Corsa and Ford Fiesta
